Rick Farbach was a renowned Sunshine Coast jazz musician who passed away in 2005. The Rick Farbach Jazz Scholarship was created in 2001 by the Noosa Federation of the Arts to honour Mr Farbach’s deep love and lifelong service to music.
The Rick Farbach Jazz Scholarship is presented each year to a Year 12 Immanuel student who has displayed excellence, leadership and commitment to music and intends to pursue music beyond their time at Immanuel.
The Noosa Federation of the Arts makes an annual donation to the winner on behalf of the Farbach family.
Anthony Camden was solo oboist with the London Virtuosi, having served as principal oboe in the London Symphony Orchestra from 1972 to 1988. His solo recordings with the London Symphony Orchestra include the Bach Concerto for violin and oboe, with Yehudi Menuhin, the Oboe Concerto by Grace Williams and a video of music by Bach with Claudio Abbado. He founded the London Virtuosi in 1972 with James Galway and John Georgiadis and the ensemble thereafter toured widely in the Americas, throughout Europe and in the Far East.
Brad Jarrett, one of the original members of the “Q Theatre Co.” in Sydney has performed as an actor/singer in Musical and Drama productions as well as TV. He holds a Diploma in Teaching and a BMG Diploma in Guitar and studied classical singing for several years. In 1981 he joined the Australian Opera Company as a Stage Manager until going freelance in 1992. In 1995 he was invited to create an Arts Festival in Cape Town South Africa. After five years as Festival Director of the “Spier Festival” he returned to Australia and in 2001 took up the position of Artistic Administrator for Opera Queensland. In 2003 he was awarded the Australian Centenary Medal for Service to Australian Society and Opera.
